MindOS
Privacy and Support
Privacy Policy
MindOS is built around a single rule: nothing leaves your device. The app has no account system, no analytics, no third-party SDKs, and no server. Every signal it generates is processed and stored locally on your iPhone.
What MindOS reads on your phone
- Sleep sensors (Motion and Microphone). When you start a sleep session, MindOS samples motion at roughly one reading per second and ambient sound level (RMS amplitude) at roughly one reading per second. Audio is never recorded or stored as audio. Only short-term loudness is computed in memory to detect disturbances, and those numbers stay on the device. Both sensors only run while a sleep session is active.
- Screen Time (Family Controls). With your permission, MindOS reads total monitored screen-time minutes from Apple's DeviceActivity framework to estimate daily cognitive load. Per-app and per-category breakdowns are rendered exclusively inside Apple's sandboxed DeviceActivityReport extension, which is the only place that detail legally exists. The MindOS app itself never receives per-app data.
- HealthKit (optional). If you grant access, MindOS reads recent sleep samples to refine its baselines. The app does not write to HealthKit unless you explicitly enable Health export in Settings.
What MindOS does not do
- No data is transmitted off your device, ever.
- No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting that uploads.
- No advertising or attribution SDKs.
- No third-party data sharing.
- No account, no login, no identifier that follows you.
- No tracking under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.
Where your data lives
All scores, sleep sessions, and trend data are stored in MindOS's local database on your iPhone, protected by the operating system's standard file protection. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it.
Children
MindOS is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, of any age, because it does not collect data at all.
Changes to this policy
If the privacy posture of the app ever changes, this page will be updated and the change will be noted in the next app release.
Support
MindOS is built and maintained by Emran Al-Khiyami. If something isn't working, if you have a feature request, or if you want to ask anything about how the app handles your data, email:
Common questions
Why does the app need microphone access?
Only to measure how loud your sleep environment is. The microphone is sampled only while a sleep session is active. No audio is recorded or stored as audio. Only a single number, the loudness level, is computed and used to detect disturbances. That number stays on your device.
Why does the app need Family Controls and Screen Time access?
To read your total daily screen time as a signal of cognitive load. Without that permission the readiness score on Today still works, but the cognitive load component will be empty.
Why is my readiness score blank on day one?
The score needs one sleep session and at least some monitored screen time before it can be computed. There is no mock data in the app, so day one is empty by design.
Will my data sync between devices?
No. MindOS is single-device by design. Everything stays on the iPhone where it was recorded.
